8000 pests!

We’ve hit another huge milestone — 8000 pests removed from Tamahere!

This one was logged by Jeannie Stewart, who’s been steadily trapping for ages on her large gully property and making an impressive contribution to local predator control. Jeannie’s commitment is paying off too — she recently heard kākā calling from her place, a wonderful sign that all this trapping effort and gully restoration really is helping to bring our native birds back. To celebrate the milestone, Robyn Richardson dropped off a batch of her famous Afghans (thanks, Robyn!).

A massive thank you to Jeannie and to everyone who’s out there checking traps, resetting baits, and recording catches. Every pest removed makes a difference — helping protect the birds, bats, and other wildlife that make Tamahere special.

Let’s keep the momentum going and aim for 9000 pests removed next!
